Studio Calendar (General)

September-December: Term 1

January-June: Term 2

Who takes lessons in my studio?

Anyone with an interest in music and learning about music is welcome in my studio.  I have taught students as young as four, and as young at heart as 80!

I offer:

  • Singing lessons and violin lessons
  • Vocal coaching
  • Classical vocal technique
  • Sight-singing/Sight-reading training
  • Music Theory lessons
  • Online Lessons
  • Recital and performance opportunities
  • Royal Conservatory Exam preparation
  • Audition preparation coaching

My philosophy

Every person can learn, improve and grow successfully as a musician with regular practice. This is not only my philosophy, but also the philosophy of Dr. Suzuki and the Suzuki Method, upon which my earliest musical experiences are based; it is also shared by many of the wonderful music teachers and coaches with whom I have had the opportunity to study.

What affiliations and training do I have?

I have university level training in vocal performance, am a member of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers' Association (ORMTA) and have been a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and the Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA).  I also hold a Bachelor of Music, an Artist Diploma (both in voice performance), and a Bachelor of Education (UofT, OISE).

Studio Information & Location

My home studio is located in Gatineau (Touraine region).  I have an Ottawa studio as well, at Rideau Park United Church (2203 Alta Vista Dr.)

The Meet and Greet: a Trial Lesson

Are you looking to take an introductory lesson or wondering if you and I, or your child and I, will work well together?  A trial lesson provides teacher, student and parent the opportunity to find out, with no additional obligations! A trial lesson is like an interview - it offers prospective students and parents a chance to meet the teacher, ask some questions, get some answers, and see what a lesson is like! After the trial lesson, the parent and/or student decides whether or not to register.  Trial lessons (generally 30 minutes) are charged at the same rate as a regular lesson.

Set of five

Just want to try a few lessons before registering? Then take a set of five. In five lessons, students and parents (if applicable) will experience the joy of music, discover the secrets of success, and get started on a journey toward making music. Simply request a "set of five" when registering.

As with private lessons, sets of five lessons are offered weekly by the half-hour, 3/4 hour and full hour. The fees are as follows:

  • Five 30 minute lessons - $150
  • Five 45 minute lessons - $210
  • Five 60 minute lessons - $275

Online Lessons (now using Forte!)

Although face to face lessons are the norm, and preferable, learning online does indeed work.  Feeling under the weather?  Live outside the Ottawa/Gatineau area?  Can't make your regular lesson, and need an alternative?  An online lesson may be the best solution for you.
